International Women's Working Day

March 8th is International Women's Working Day, a holiday that I came accross recently. It is a holiday I can celebrate, being a woman who is currently running my own business. On March 8, 1908, 15,000 women marched through the streets of New York City demanding better pay, shorter working days, and voting rights. In 1911, Copenhagen was the first place to make International Women's Day an official holiday. (http://www.internationalwomensday.com/)

I recently had the opportunity to work with Dress For Success, an non-profit organization devoted to promoting economic independence in disadvantaged women. Five women were photographed for the organization, all of whom were clients. It was an exciting shoot and a great oportunity for the women. Dress for Success has worked to build their confidence, and the shoot bumped up their confidence one more level. (http://www.dressforsuccess.org)
